Adult Studies

Christian discipleship is another word for Christian education. The Presbyterian Church believes that education is the backbone of the church and that learning to be a disciple or follower of Christ is a lifelong venture. One is never too young or too old to learn new and exciting ways to follow God. Therefore, we at First Presbyterian Church strive to listen to God’s voice in our lives through studying the Bible, reading theology and through group discussions on a wide variety of religious and societal topics. We have Christian education for every single age level in our congregation. We believe that if we are not constantly challenging ourselves and one another, our faith becomes stagnant. We encourage all members of the church to become involved in Christian education. Please refer to the Mountain Messenger for classes that may be of interest to you.

We offer a variety of adult education classes throughout the year. Childcare is always available. Our current schedule is:

Regular Adult Class

Meeting at 8:30 each Sunday morning, this class is led by a variety of leaders, both laity and pastoral. Studies cover various topics such as individual books of the Bible, Christian living, Advent and Lenten studies, and ethical and moral issues.

Wednesday Noon Book/Bible Study

Every Wednesday at noon, a group of people meet over sack lunches to study either a book of the Bible or a contemporary Christian book. Authors are sometimes invited to attend a luncheon and discuss their books with the class. Pastor Glenn Burfeind leads this study.
