Community Outreach Warm up America
is a national program to supply afghans for the homeless and needy people in our
community and nation. It is an opportunity to provide comfort and assurance that
someone cares. Those who enjoy crocheting or knitting meet the fourth Thursday
from 10 a.m. until noon in the church parlor.

Theological Fund This fund supports the 10 theological seminaries of our denomination.

Food Bank The Flathead Food Bank provides short-term emergency food assistance to people in need.
Neighbors
in Need Neighbors in
Need is a fund of last resort,
managed by church
donations for emergencies
such as temporary
shelter, rental
assistance, utilities,
food gasoline, etc. for
limited income persons.
Habitat for Humanity An ecumenical Christian housing organization, Habitat partners with eligible families to build homes. Families invest “sweat equity” into their own homes, volunteers and corporate donors provide the funds and building materials. Two new homes for local families are now underway in west Kalispell with a fundraising budget of $145,000 to complete.
Abbie
Shelter The Abbie
Shelter provides safety in a warm home environment for victims of domestic
violence. Staying at the Shelter gives abused women an opportunity to explore
feelings and make decisions in a supportive atmosphere.
Flathead
Youth Home
Opened
in Kalispell in 1997, this is the only licensed shelter care facility in our
region offering a safe and stable environment where young people in crisis and
transition between the ages of 10 – 18 receive professional intervention and
supportive services.
Flathead Youth Home cares for up to eight youth at a time and the average
length of stay has increased to 24 days this last year.
A new home is in process of being built in Kalispell that is scheduled to
open in April 2009.
State reimbursement for care only covers 60% of costs with community
support required to keep the program solvent.
Intermountain Children's Home
Newly opened in Kalispell this month, Providence House is the first emergency
shelter care home to be licensed in our area for dependent children between the
ages of 0 – 10. Last year there
were 3,000 child abuse and neglect referrals received in Region V- a six county
area. Of those, 800 came from
Flathead County. Intermountain
Children’s Home focuses on
securing the emotional health of children and works to insure a warm and loving
environment is provided in permanent homes for children who have graduated from
its program. State reimbursement for
care covers 60% of costs with community support a vital component in maintaining
this needed resource.
Samaritan
House Samaritan House provides shelter and basic needs for homeless people, while supporting their efforts to find employment and housing.
Radio
Ministry First Presbyterian Church has been broadcasting our Sunday service since 1927. We are currently heard live Sundays at 10 a.m. on KALS 97.1 FM.
Stephen
Ministries The
Stephen’s Ministry program provides a listening partner for individuals
undergoing stressful situations or a life crisis. All exchanges between the care
receiver and the caregiver are held in strict confidence. Caregivers have
received extensive training.
Glacier
Camp and Conference Center Glacier Camp
and Conference Center, located on the western shore of beautiful Flathead Lake,
is a mission of Glacier Presbytery. Its mission is to provide leadership,
resources, programs, facilities, and opportunities for persons in their lifelong

Presbyterian Church is a member of Glacier Presbytery, a regional governing body
of the Presbyterian Church USA made up of 19 congregations in Northwestern
Montana.
First Presbyterian Church is a member of the Synod of the Rocky Mountains, a regional governing body of the Presbyterian Church USA made up of several presbyteries. The Synod of the Rocky Mountains consists of 237 congregations in eight presbyteries in Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Colorado.
The
General Assembly consists of commissioners elected by presbyteries. Half of the
commissioners are Ministers of Word and
Sacrament; half are
elders. Few have ever been commissioners to the General Assembly before, but most will
have served in one of the other governing bodies of our church:
1)the session,
which provides care and oversight of a local congregation;
2) the presbytery, which
provides care and oversight of a group of congregations; or
3) the synod which
provides care and oversight of several presbyteries. |
