Vision Statement

"Where there is no vision, the people perish." Proverbs 29:18

At First Presbyterian Church of Kalispell our vision gives us the freedom to dream of a special place. We envision a dynamic church guided by prayer.

This church will be:

A place where we view change with interest rather than hesitation and a church that seeks to understand God’s will for us in this time and place and God’s vision for our future. We identify individuals’ talents; nurture and encourage all to give of their time, energy, and resources.

A place that is as steeped in the Word as it is in laughter and joy for life. Our church celebrates God’s love for us as revealed in and through Jesus Christ and commits to the Word of God through worship, study, and ministry. We continue to build a prayerful, loving, and compassionate community in our congregation and practice The Greatest Commandment. We provide vibrant worship services to glorify God and draw people into deeper relationship with Christ, using a variety of music, creative presentations, and sermons that appeal to youth, young families, and older adults. We challenge all members to grow in faith by spending time each week studying and learning Scripture and sharing their faith stories. We are grounded in Reformed Theology and our Presbyterian beliefs.

A place where our education continues to grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and where the youth of our community come to find an alternative source of fellowship and a sense of belonging. We provide dynamic programs and classes with a variety of activities that appeal to children, youth and a diverse group of adults and that attract young families to our church. We encourage our children to experience Glacier Presbytery Camp and we set aside funds so all can attend. Recognizing that it is difficult for some to come to activities at the church, we provide opportunities for people to study, help, and participate at home.

A place where the weary, burdened, and seeking people in our community come to find a safe haven of hope, peace, and fellowship. We offer friendship to all who come to our church and to others in the community who are in need. We encourage individual evangelism outreach. We are intentional about church growth, both spiritually and numerically. We maintain and improve our historic church building and strive to have facilities that enhance our ministry.

A place where we foster our relationships with others in our family of faith and where we can depend on others for support and also offer support in times of need. We acknowledge that the definition of the family is changing and we strive to open our minds and hearts to all families. We provide support for families in crisis and continue a caring ministry. We honor older members of our congregation and encourage them to mentor our youth and young families.

A place where we serve God through local and global mission and stewardship of the earth. We help more and more people look through the church window to the world to identify what needs call out to them. We challenge all to be involved in a program outside the church and we honor our volunteers. We hold peace and justice as primary concerns of our church.

At First Presbyterian Church of Kalispell, we invite you to live, learn, love and share the power of Christ to realize the Dream.
